My fiance likes the tungsten wedding bands, and I was going to purchase one for him … but the salesperson at the jewelry store told me that not only can they not be cut off easily in an emergency (which I was aware of), they also cannot be resized after it is made. He maintains his weight, so it’s not like he should need is resized any time soon … but what about when he gets older if his fingers change size?

Also, he is in the military and going to Afghanistan right after the wedding, so I am a bit concerned about the fact that the ring cannot be cut off easily since it’s a possibility.

We also looked at the white gold rings, but he really seemed to prefer the tungsten ones.

The salesperson is completely off. Tungsten wedding rings can be removed quickly without issues in an emergency. All it takes is a standard set of vice grips to crack the ring off.

It is true though, Tungsten Wedding Bands cannot be re-sized. You want to find a store that offers lifetime sizing. Be careful though, lots of stores claim lifetime sizing but they charge you for a ring replacement. We went to http://www.larsonjewelers.com/ because they offer free size exchanges on their tungsten rings.

Tungsten is supposed to be indestructable and this ring isnt even a month old…

I understand that this is very upsetting to you. However, the store that sold the tungsten carbide wedding band should have explained that while it is the hardest material in the world that wedding bands are made of (and virtually unscratchable) it is very brittle.

If you were to drop the ring on a concrete surface there is a good chance the ring will crack or chip. It will just happen – no matter where you purchased your ring. However, the store, or website, that sold the ring should offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY on this. You should be able to return the damaged ring and receive a brand new ring – free of charge. You may have to pay for shipping, but that’s it.

So please contact the store and if they won’t do this for you, you better start shopping for jewelry elsewhere.

Our wedding is coming up quickly, only a few weeks to go. Anyway my fiance is was being too picky and wanted a Tungsten band but now he has decided to let me chose his band. I want him to have the type he wants, so I came up with this one from Kay Jewelrs. There are not many jewelers around us that carry these so we are limited to our shopping unless it is online. Is this a good price for a Tungsten band? I want to get him one that looks very similar to this one, would you suggest another place online where I might find one or is this price reasonable?

You can find tungsten rings cheaper than that online if you search for them. My fiance got a really nice one for $75ish. I don’t remember exactly. You have to do some searching though. Also, remember you can’t resize tungsten. So if you need to change sizes, you have to get a new ring. Just keep that in mind. Good luck. It’s a nice looking ring.

tungsten is a expensive ore and its extremely hard to work with.

100 bux is ghetto cheap for a wedding band.
